Relevant experience/background:
In the past two years or so, I’ve made several typesets for
myself that I’ve then bound into real physical books. Check them out
via the previous work link! :)
Additional notes about labor offered:
Final product will be a PDF file for you to print. I try to
get close to a traditionally published book in terms of visual
impression (see previous works link). Besides wrangling the main text,
I’m happy to pick cool fonts for titles, fun ornament symbols for
section breaks, and different fonts e.g. for hand-written segments or
on-screen text. I’ll put the AO3 metadata on the page where the
publisher’s info would usually go, and I can include the fic’s chapter
notes in a separate section at the end. I can also include 1-2 pieces
of art at the beginning or end. Note also that a typeset doesn’t have
to be one long fic – it could be a collection of oneshots or similar.
Limitations: I can’t make covers, and I won’t do any spellling and
grammar checking. Also, while I can in principle typeset for a variety
of paper formats, A4 (which comes out to A5 book pages) is the only
one I can properly test print - anything else would be an experiment.
I’ll probably have more time to work on this in the first half of the
year, so I’d prefer if you could get me the final text within two
months or so after the auction ends. If the text I’m typesetting is
not your own, I would prefer you check in with the author first. If
you'd like a collection of oneshots by different authors, please keep
it to about 7 fics max regardless of word count.
Characters/pairings of interest:
I especially love all of the female characters in this show!
(Def more of a preference than a must, though.)
Subjects/theme/tropes of interest:
I generally find that anything with a strong atmospheric
setting lends itself well to typesetting. Other than that, I get
excited about queer themes, especially of the wlw and/or gender
feelings sort, as well as characters getting to heal from shit they
went through.
Unwilling to address:
Underage sex, incest, eroticized depictions of rape, eating
disorders, stories that are very dark and hopeless all the way
through. If the text you’d like typeset involves intense kink/BDSM in
some way, please talk to me about the specifics before you bid.
Other notes:
I'm hoping to have a conversation with you about themes and
vibes of the fic that you'd like to see represented in the typeset. If
you have any more specific ideas, I’m happy to see what I can do!
:)
