Fanwork Details:
My beta reads include any or all of: spelling and grammar
checks, reviewing characterization, plot, pacing, brainstorming as
needed, and general encouragement! Let me know how I can help you make
your story be the best it can be!
Expertise in American legal practice. Writing something with lawyer characters? Need some legal sounding tasks for them to do? Want to know about how the bar exam works or what practicing law is like? Have a plot point in mind but not sure if it's realistic? I'd love to help!
If you win this auction we can just do a beta read, or just the legal expertise, or both!
Relevant experience/background:
I've beta read for a number of fandom friends, including
people for whom English is a second language and I've done beta
reading through FTH and the Regiment of Fan Laborers. I enjoy (and I
think do a good job of) making sure the story in the author's head is
what is being conveyed on the page.
I've been a member of the bar in good standing (aka a practicing lawyer) since 2010. I'm currently the general counsel for a small business and I have a lot of experience with environmental law, real estate law, contracts, and general business law. I've also worked for a local government and drafted legislation.
Additional notes about labor offered:
I would love to work with you to make your story be the very
best it can be. If you're writing for a fandom that I haven't written
in before and you want to know how familiar I am with canon, please
contact me before bidding.
Unwilling to address:
Self-harm, suicide and suicidal ideation, eating disorders,
body horror, gore.
Other notes:
My beta reading usually involves asking a lot of questions
because I want to make sure I understand YOUR vision for the story and
that I'm helping you achieve that vision. Aside from correcting typos,
I only make suggestions, not edits. You're ultimately in control of
your story and my goal is to make you feel great about it.
Auctions run from 8:00AM EST, 25 February 2025, to 8:00PM EST, 1 March 2025. Bids before or after this period are invalid and will not be counted. If you would like to bid on this auction:
Step 1: Check the bidding spreadsheet to find out what the current high bid is. (Note: It may take up to five minutes for a bid to appear.)
Step 2: Fill out the creator's bidding form with a bid that is higher than the current high bid. If you want to make it harder for someone to outbid you, bid higher! We will NOT notify you if someone outbids you. FTH will only notify you if you are the high bidder after the auctions end.
