Silver Adept is offering:

Organizations this auction benefits: Bidder's choice of any of the listed groups (See full list.)

Type of fanwork: Fan labor
Subtype(s): Betaing, Culture picking, Sensitivity reading, Specialist expertise
Fandom(s): Any
Highest rating: E
Minimum Bid: $5
Audience: All ages
Length/scope: I suggest $1 USD per 1000 words (or equivalent) of the work the labor will be performed for, but I also understand that some contributors will not be able to meet this, thus, a suggestion, not a demand.
Special interests (what is this?): Aro/ace characters, Canonically trans or nonbinary chars, F/F ships, Poly ships, Rarepairs, Trans or nonbinary interpretations of canon characters

Fanwork Details:
I am offering familiarity with the regions and cultures of the Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest areas of the United States.

I am offering specialist expertise on the practice and organization of public libraries and their programming as well as some of the common and uncommon issues that arise in the practice of librarianship and the operation of a library.

I can speak to sport culture and rules of various sports as played in the United States, as well as the differences between many of the amateur and professional levels and leagues of sport. (Not specifically enough for RPF fandoms.)

I am offering the experience of one person with the neurodivergence known as Attention Defecit/Hyperactivity Disorder, or Variable Attention Stimulus Trait.

In the betaing process, I can help with idea and plot development (usually through the process of asking questions about what the creator is interested in), spelling, punctuation, and grammar (SPaG) for US English, cheerleading, check-ins, and accountability partnering, and reading and marking up drafts for coherence, plot, and other elements. If it happens to be in a canon I am familiar with, I may be able to provide more in-depth comments in these areas.

Relevant experience/background:
I have lived significant amounts of my life in both the Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest regions of the United States.

I am a practicing public librarian of more than a decade and a half, with experience in programming and navigating the bureaucracy that comes with an organizational structure.

I have been following sport for a significant amount of time, but I do not have a great amount of expertise regarding specific teams and their statistical categories. I am more likely to be able to offer a not terrible explanation of the offside rule in association football rather than Stan Musial's batting average in any given year.

Subjects/theme/tropes of interest:
I really like poking into the world and seeing what falls out or examining spaces that are hinted at in the canon but otherwise left to exist in the world and interact. Characters coming into their competence or discovering hidden depths are always fun, and I do like figuring out what the parts of characters are that will still shine through in different settings, alternate universes, or for pairings that don't follow the canon.

Unwilling to address:
I have no interest in stories inside the incest taboo. I'm leery of abusive relationships uncritically portrayed as positive. (I do not consider consensual kink inherently abusive.) I'm not interested in watersports or scat as kinks or things to be explored.

Other notes:
I will do my best to be helpful, but if you would like something more than readability and SPaG for your work, I will probably need a source where I can consume the canon, or at least the parts of the canon most relevant to your work.

Auctions run from 8:00AM EST, 25 February 2025, to 8:00PM EST, 1 March 2025. Bids before or after this period are invalid and will not be counted. If you would like to bid on this auction:

Step 1: Check the bidding spreadsheet to find out what the current high bid is. (Note: It may take up to five minutes for a bid to appear.)

Step 2: Fill out the creator's bidding form with a bid that is higher than the current high bid. If you want to make it harder for someone to outbid you, bid higher! We will NOT notify you if someone outbids you. FTH will only notify you if you are the high bidder after the auctions end.
