Fanwork Details:
Culture picking: general American culture, Texas, the Deep South, the U.S. military, the 1980s/1990s. Sensitivity reading: I'm a survivor of intimate partner violence and rape/sexual assault and have done original research on interpersonal violence in an academic and professional capacity. Specialist expertise: I have a doctorate in educational psychology with an emphasis on social psychology, trauma, and attitudes toward survivors; I have firsthand experience as a psychotherapist in a trainee capacity (I was not licensed but did this type of work for five years) and experience with the following: graduate school and other academic settings, empirical social science research, indie music subcultures, knitting and other fiber crafts, and baking; I also have a good base of knowledge on 19th-century literature.

Relevant experience/background:
I have been a professional proofreader at a couple of different jobs. I have a PhD in educational psychology and have received specific training in a wide variety of psychology topics including therapy and assessment. I've done empirical social science research as a graduate student and a professional researcher. I've been an avid participant in a variety of hobbies and activities. I have provided proofreading and localization help in the past to a fansubber who spoke fluent English and Japanese but wasn't a native English speaker and thus needed help avoiding errors and making English dialogue sound realistic and natural.

Additional notes about labor offered:
When I do proofreading, I'm happy to adjust my level of scrutiny to whatever the writer prefers. In other words, I can go over everything with a fine-toothed comb, I can be more selective about what I comment on, or I can focus exclusively on certain things. When offering culture-picking, sensitivity reading, or specialist expertise, if subject matter comes up that I'm not already thoroughly familiar with I'm always happy to consult sources and ask my personal and professional networks for input. In fact, if I have the slightest doubt about something it's my habit to consult sources for confirmation. I do the same kind of background research when providing localization help.

Characters/pairings of interest:
I'm much more flexible when it comes to the characters and pairings I work with when offering fan services than I am when I'm writing original work. Helping others with works that are different from what I usually write and read seems like a good opportunity to expand my horizons.

Subjects/theme/tropes of interest:
See above; I'm open to a wide variety of possibilities.

Unwilling to address:
I prefer not to work on material involving incest, especially incest involving twins. More ambiguous cases in which characters are related by marriage, by adoption later in life, etc. are generally fine. While I actively welcome material involving nonconsensual sexual contact if the creator's intention is to represent such contact sensitively—interpersonal violence is my wheelhouse, after all—I'm not willing to work with material involving unapologetic nonconsensual contact that is endorsed by the implied author of the work—in other words, if the nonconsensual activity seems to be excused, justified, or treated as unimportant by the text.

Other notes:
I enjoy collaboration and value specific requests and feedback. I'm curious by nature and flexible about trying new things as long as I have enough information to do what's needed.
